I headed out with Outcast regulars Rick & Dawn in search of spring Lake Trout. Over-night winds pushed some cold water into the fishing grounds which seemed to concentrate the fish into dense pockets. We found a steady bite which consisted of BIG Lake Trout. We finished the day 30 for 38 on Lake Trout with a bonus Walleye. The fish averaged in the 12# range with multiple fish in the 14 – 17# range. The biggest of the day was an 18#er and 18.5#er. The crew returned to the dock with sore arms.
I headed east with Denny and his crew to target some spring Lake Trout. We set lines to find a ferocious bite that lasted all day. We finished the day boating 39 for 41 on Lake Trout with a bonus 9# Walleye finding the box courtesy of a long copper. The largest Lake Trout of the day was a massive 18#s. The Lake Trout averaged in the 10-12# range.
I set out from Lampe Marina with John, John and Mollie. We set lines on a flat Lake. The winds picked up and pushed us off our game. The winds sub sided and after a slow start we managed to go 15 for 20 on Lake Trout with a bonus 9# Walleye. The Lake Trout averaged in the 8 – 10# range with the biggest of the day going 12#s.

I headed east with Josh and Brad on another day of picture perfect lake conditions to target Lake Trout. With a wind change from the previous day and a slight warm up in the water column, we found a slower bite from. Despite the slower bite we managed to go 20 for 25 on Lake Trout, 1 for 2 on Steelhead and found 2 nice early season Walleye, 1 – 8#er and 1 -9#er. The Lake Trout continued to average in the 8# range with the biggest of the day being 12#s.
Fishing Report – 5/2/15: For the first lake Trout trip of the year, I headed east with Wes and Cohrin. We set up to find several hungry Lake Trout. With a steady bite we managed to end the day going 34 for 38 on Lake Trout with a bonus being a 9# Walleye, which was our first Walleye of the 2015 Season, great job on winching it in Cohrin. It was an action packed day with numerous doubles and even a triple. The lake trout averaged in the 8 – 10 # range with the biggest being 14.5#’s (once again great job on the reel Cohrin).
