I was invited aboard tournament bass angler, Frank M’s Skeeter for a day of smallmouth bass fishing. With a run and gun style we covered a large amount of water from PIB east and located several pockets of active fish. Drifting provided the most consistent action, as we boated fair numbers, in the 2 – 4# range with several smaller fish in the mix. We rounded out the day by catching our first walleye’s of the season, the biggest being 9 lbs.

Got a late start on the day but headed to Northeast Marina where I was joined aboard Outcast by touring bass angler Frank M, from Oil City, PA; we headed northwest and immediately found large numbers of active feeding Lake Trout. We had fish on before we could get the entire set up in the water and from there it was non-stop action with multiple doubles and even a quadruple for the day. We headed in after netting and releasing 30 fish, with numerous bites, losing 5 or so on the way in and 2 break offs. Fish sized remained in the 8 lb range with numerous fish over 10 lbs and biggest being 16.5 lbs. Set up was the same as the previous day with a trolling speed of 1.9 - 2.2 mph on a W/E troll. Hot spoons remained same as the previous day.
Fished the morning north to northwest of Northeast Marina with calm and foggy lake conditions. Started the day off slow catching 5 in the first two hours. Picked up and made a move finding a large number of active feeding Lake Trout. Managed 22 fish for the morning with several other bites and losing 1 at the back of the boat. Fished averaged in the 8 lb range with several over 10 lbs and the biggest for the day being a 17.5 lber. Fished 49 - 62 FOW, with the program being riggers deep with 15 - 30' leads, big dipseys - 2 setting 130 - 160 back; 1 setting 115 back, SW - NE troll at 2.2mph. with hot spoons for the day being: MS scorpion & standard in Frog (copper), MS scorpion and standard in watermelon, MS green bubble and MS scorpion green puke.
